u10s Lions v Shelley A

After last week's result, it was good to see such a good team performance today. The first half saw us press high up-field. Toby was called upon twice to make crucial saves, but generally we had plenty of possession in their half with Leo, George and Joe all having oppotunities to score. Shelley have a decent side, so it would take something special to break them...step foward Leo, ran goal bound with the ball close to his feet before smashing home straight down the centre. Shelley equalised just before half time as our defence left Toby exposed.
The 2nd half was an even better display from us. Joe now in goal had to be ready for Shelleys threats, but he was now protected by a solid backline of Lewis, Josh Mac and Toby. Leo played a nice pass to Jayden for him to nicely slot home from close range. 2 minutes later Luca looked up on the edge of the box to put in a high cross (Left foot!!) ......that high cross ended up looping over the keepers head and into the net! 3-1
The best play came from our right wing...Lewis won countless tackles and cooly played the ball down the by line for Jayden to run onto. We had a further 3 chances to score with efforts from Luca, George and Jayden all saved.
Shelley got a 2nd goal late into the game (from a foul on Jayden!), which meant for a frantic final 5 minutes, but we held the line well and saw out the game.
Man of the match: I would say both Lewis & Jayden. I lost count the amount of times Lewis saw off an attack and cooly invited Jayden to run the ball down the right!
